Once again we had a wonderful fellowship weekend in the Lakes. There were fifteen of us, eleven from Deane, four from Rosehill URC (and Vera’s Ron!). The worship was led in the main by Maria and Vera, who both had worked very hard in putting it all together. Our hosts were Rev’d Arnold Harrison and his wife Muriel, who looked after us from the minute we arrived. Arnold took our first devotion on the Friday evening & following that we had a fun evening arranged by Vera, who had spent a long time devising various quizzes etc. Saturday morning was led by Vera and Maria their topic being prayer. We were all asked to bring along a photo of a happy occasion for which we were thankful, and give a brief talk about it. The afternoon was free time, so we all went our different ways, shopping, walking or visiting Grasmere garden centre. After the evening meal and devotions we all settled down to watch a DVD of the “Marigold Hotel”, but unfortunately owing to technical problems we couldn’t get it to run ! Once again Vera and Rita (from Rosehill) came to the rescue with more quizzes!
The food was excellent – a cooked breakfast each morning, a tasty lunch and a superb evening meal. On Sunday, before we left, we had a most enjoyable roast turkey lunch. Do think about joining us next October, because we are sure you will feel refreshed mentally and spiritually by a visit to our Church home in the Lake District.
